A photo project 2026

Idea

I want to create a collection of images capturing the people of Nora dressed in turn-of-the-century clothing, photographed in our beautiful historical and cultural settings.

Children, adults, the elderly – everyone is welcome! Perhaps you will pose like in an old black-and-white portrait, or we might capture you in the middle of work, just like in the old days.

Together we can bring history to life and create timeless images of today’s Nora.

Background

As someone who has moved away from Nora, my love for my hometown has only grown over the years. The idea was born from a small photo project in India – India Doors – and I thought: why not let Nora be the next place to explore? Here, there are not only beautiful doors, but also the charming wooden houses and the unique cultural environment that make our town so special.

This project is entirely non-profit and built on commitment and joy. The goal is not commercial – we do it to have fun together and to highlight the beauty of Nora. Any surplus will, of course, go back to the town.

Result

This project is not only about photographs – it is about preserving and bringing Nora’s history to life together.

📖 A Photo Book for the Future
A beautiful book collecting the images, where both people and surroundings are given new life. It will be a keepsake for those of us who take part, and a cultural treasure for future generations.

🖼️ Exhibition & Meeting Place
We will gather for an exhibition where the photos are displayed, and where we can share our stories and experiences. An opportunity to meet other residents of Nora and feel pride in what we have created together.

🖋️ Unique Photographs
For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to purchase individual photographs – as personal keepsakes or as part of Nora’s living history.

We need people and clothes

For this project, I’m looking for participants who would like to be photographed in clothing from the period 1880–1920. Everything is of interest – from simple workwear to elegant formal attire, clean or worn, borrowed or owned.

👥 Who can join?

All ages, all shapes, all looks – yes, everyone is welcome!

🎩 Clothing & Props
Do you have clothing from the era, tools, props, animals, or other details that can enhance the feeling of the time? That would be fantastic.

🏠 Location
Do you also have an interesting place, indoors or outdoors, where we can take photos? Even better!

Note: I am not only looking for traditional Swedish folk costumes, but rather clothing ranging from everyday and workwear to festive and formal dress. I am especially keen to find participants who reflect different professions and parts of society.
